Arequipa - The City |

Arequipa, a beautiful city at 2325 metres above sea level is surrounded by spectacular mountains. The most obvious and famous peak is El Misti (5822 metres), it rises behind Arequipa cathedrals. The sun shines almost every day and makes the buildings built from a light colored rock sillar dazzle.

Military parades seem to be Peru's favorite activity. School children in uniforms can be very often seen marching on the streets during military-like drills.

Bus transportation
As soon as the bus stops, it's immediately surrounded by tens of vendors, often small children. The are selling food, drinks but also sweaters and various other merchandise. Sometimes they enter the bus, sometimes they even travel to the next stop. Although many of offered home made products can be of questionable quality, the service is nevertheless very convenient.
